Renovating: Just Food is Moving temporarily!

Due to the generosity of so many individuals and foundations in the Douglas County community, as well as CARES Act funding, Just Food will begin renovations on our building beginning October 1, 2020. The renovation will relieve unsafe overcrowding by expanding the pantry to provide a socially distant, trauma-informed, and more dignified shopping experience for all pantry clients. It will also provide dedicated space for cooking education, and private rooms for nutrition counseling, health screenings, and case management. As a result of these renovations, Just Food’s facility will be safer for all shoppers experiencing food insecurity.

Just Food will begin renovations on October 1st. As a result, Just Food will be closed September 24th through October 2nd. To reduce gaps in service as a result of this temporary closure, Just Food will offer double allocation on points on deliveries and in-person shopping on only September 21st for deliveries and only September 22nd and 23rd for in -person shopping. Home deliveries will resume October 5th. In person shopping will resume at the new location behind Peaslee Tech at 2920 Haskell Ave on Tuesday, October 6th. Just Food’s hours will remain Tuesdays 9:00 - 6:00 and Wednesdays - Friday 9:00 - 3:00.

We are grateful for your flexibility as we navigate the new temporary location. We look forward to having you in our newly renovated building once construction is completed. Construction is estimated to be completed at the end of January.

The new location is at the rear of Peaslee Tech at 2920 Haskell Ave, Lawrence, KS 66046. Peaslee Tech is on route 15 of the City of Lawrence bus route. Please proceed to the south of the building (the rear) using the street to the left of the main entrance.
