WHAT IS THE CHOP SHOP?

Established in 2022, the Chop Shop serves our community by providing free ready-to-eat meals to our shoppers, and reduces food waste in our pantry and within our clients' homes. From the general donations that Just Food receives, our sourcing and production manager gleans items that are at risk of spoilage or are oversized for individual consumption, brings them to a certified kitchen, and cooks or repackages them for redistribution. Last year, 15,000 pounds of at-risk food were processed and cooked, resulting in 20,000 pounds of food produced by staff and volunteers which was all distributed to those in need.

WHO IS THE CHOP SHOP FOR?

While food is not directly distributed from our Chop Shop location, we do accept volunteers to work at the Chop Shop during its operating hours throughout the week. Without a team of volunteers, we would not be able to rescue, produce, and distribute as much food as we do.

HOW DO I VOLUNTEER?

To volunteer as part of the Chop Shop team, please contact our volunteer manager, Jess, at volunteer@justfoodks.org.
