WHAT IS JUST COOK?

Just Cook is a casual, hands-on cooking class where participants learn to make delicious, low-cost meals. Classes are led by our Community Access Manager and are designed to be accessible and enjoyable, providing skills and confidence to cook nutritious meals on a budget.

WHO IS JUST COOK FOR?

Just Cook is open to all Douglas County residents looking to brush up on their cooking skills! All participants will get hands-on experience and will enjoy a full serving of the dish. Depending on the class, participants might also go home with a meal-kit, kitchen tools, and more.

Latkes

Thursday, December 5th

6-7:00pm

Celebrate the flavors of the holidays with a hands-on Latkes cooking class! Join us as we learn to make these crispy, golden potato pancakes, a beloved holiday tradition. We’re excited to welcome a very special guest—the mother of our Director of Impact, Laura—who will share some of the rich history behind Latkes.

Candied Oranges & Nuts Demo

Tuesday, December 10th

3:30-4:30pm

Get into the holiday spirit with a sweet and festive cooking demonstration! Join us as we learn to make delicious chocolate-dipped candied oranges and candied nuts—perfect treats for gifting or enjoying yourself. This demonstration will guide you through each step to create these irresistible treats. 

Turkey Roasting Demo

Thursday, December 12th

3:30-4:30pm

Join our production manager, Chetan Michie and community access manager, Danielle McCarville in a fun and informative cooking demonstration on how to perfectly prepare a turkey for the holiday season! We'll be focusing on the most expedient techniques to make your holiday dinner as smooth as possible. Whether you're a first-time cook or looking to sharpen your skills, this session will guide you through all the steps for a juicy, flavorful turkey. 

Turkey Noodle Soup

Tuesday, December 31st

6-7:00pm

Make the most of your holiday leftovers with our Turkey Noodle Soup cooking class! Join us as we show you how to turn your turkey leftovers (bones and all!) into a delicious, hearty soup that’s perfect for warming up after the festivities. Learn tips and techniques for creating a flavorful, comforting meal that can stretch your holiday leftovers into something special.
