Community Spotlight: SOUPer Bowl Food Drives

Despite not being a National Holiday, Super Bowl Sunday is surpassed only by Thanksgiving in food consumption in the US. This leads to millions of pounds of food being discarded and ending up in the landfill. Thanks to River City Church and The Lawrence Arts Center hosting SOUPer Bowl Food Drives, these organizations were able to collect 859 pounds of non-perishable food items for the Douglas County community! Food drives help keep our shelves stocked but they are also a great way to raise awareness about hunger in our community and encourage others to help.
