Thanks to your generosity, last week Just Food was able to distribute holiday meals to thousands of Douglas County residents so that they too could celebrate Thanksgiving this year. This support meant more this year than ever before as the line of cars stretched over 1.6 miles to drive through our parking lot for us to fill their cars with the Thanksgiving staples. Despite the long line, I stood there in awe looking out at the sea of dedicated volunteers and the hardworking Just Food staff and had a moment of gratitude that this all was possible.
Despite the record high cost of food and challenges of the pandemic still looming, together, we were able to make something very special happen again this year; Thanksgiving for thousands in our community.
For that, I could not be more grateful for you and for everyone who played a part in this incredible undertaking.
While we have closed the books on one holiday this year, we still have one more to go. As we approach the end of the holiday season, I am filled with amazement and gratitude knowing that this community will step up to meet this oncoming need. Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday and we are aiming to make significant progress on our Christmas meal fundraising goal. I am once again asking for your continued support in creating lasting holiday memories for our friends and neighbors. Your support of $30 will make sure one family receives a holiday meal kit.
